Sainz handed 10-second penalty for Albon collision at Zandvoort

Carlos Sainz received a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with Williams driver Alexander Albon at Turn 1 during the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.[1][2]
The contact occurred four laps from the end when Albon attempted an overtake on the outside. Sainz locked his front tires and ran straight, resulting in a glancing blow that damaged the side of Albon's floor and forced the Thai driver to pit.[1]
Outcome
Albon retired from the race but was classified 17th. Sainz's final position was unaffected by the penalty.[2]
Sainz described the penalty as fair after the race.[1]
