Williams previews upgraded FW48 performance at Marina Bay
Williams expects Singapore's low-speed street circuit to suit the upgraded FW48 chassis better than Sepang. The team faces only one practice session ahead of the season's final Sprint weekend.
Williams targets better FW48 showing in Singapore
Williams heads to the Marina Bay street circuit expecting the low-speed nature of the track to play to the strengths of its upgraded FW48 chassis. The team believes the circuit characteristics will expose fewer weaknesses than the previous round at Sepang.[1]
The weekend marks the final Sprint event of the 2026 season. Drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon will have only one practice session to prepare before Sprint Qualifying.[2]
Sainz noted after Sepang that most corners at Marina Bay are low-speed sections where the car suffers less despite limited downforce. He added that the high-downforce demands of the track mean the team will still face challenges.[3]
Sprint format adds pressure
The Sprint weekend structure leaves little margin for error in setup or strategy. Williams will aim for clean sessions to maximize track time on the upgraded package.
