Sprint debut confirmed for Zandvoort

The 2026 Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort will include the venue's first Sprint race. The event runs August 21-23, with Sprint Qualifying on Friday and the 24-lap Sprint itself scheduled for Saturday, August 22.[1]

Official F1 schedules list the Sprint at 12:00-12:30 local time on August 22, alongside the main Grand Prix on August 23.[2] This marks the addition of the format to the final Dutch Grand Prix weekend on the calendar.[3]

First Sprint on Dutch soil

The Dutch Grand Prix promoter confirmed the weekend will feature "the very first F1 Sprint ever held on Dutch soil."[4] The circuit's return to the calendar began in 2021, and the 2026 event concludes its current stint.
