Honda Details Power Unit Upgrade Focus for Zandvoort
Honda's chief engineer Shintaro Orihara confirmed the Zandvoort power unit update targets only the internal combustion engine. The spec 2 RA626H revision aims to improve combustion speed and output on Aston Martin's car after early season shortfalls.
Honda Narrows Zandvoort Power Unit Update to Internal Combustion Engine
Honda will introduce a revised RA626H power unit at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. Chief engineer Shintaro Orihara stated the changes focus solely on the internal combustion engine.[1]
The update modifies the pre-chamber and piston shape to accelerate combustion. Honda tested the new specification during an Aston Martin filming day at the Hungaroring before the summer break.[2]
Orihara noted the upgrade follows data collection from prior events and targets improved engine performance. The spec 2 unit will run on the Aston Martin AMR26 chassis.[3]
