Slater secures first F3 win and points lead at Hungaroring
Audi junior Freddie Slater won the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Budapest feature race from second on the grid. The Trident driver held off title rival Ugo Ugochukwu to claim his maiden victory in the category and move into the drivers championship lead with 130 points.
Slater delivers first F3 victory
Audi junior Freddie Slater took his maiden FIA Formula 3 win in the Budapest feature race on 26 July 2026.[1] Starting from second on the grid, the Trident driver held off championship rival Ugo Ugochukwu throughout the race to secure the result.[1]
The victory made Slater the 11th different winner of the 2026 season and moved him into the drivers championship lead with 130 points.[2]
Championship implications
Slater now leads Ugochukwu by eight points heading into the summer break.[1] The result caps a strong run of form for the British rookie in his first full F3 campaign.
