Haas confirms Rafael Camara for 2027 multi-year deal
TGR Haas F1 has signed Brazilian F2 leader Rafael Camara to a multi-year contract starting in 2027, replacing Esteban Ocon after the 21-year-old outperformed other candidates in private tests.
Haas selects Camara after TPC evaluation
TGR Haas F1 Team announced on 15 October 2026 that Brazilian Formula 2 championship leader Rafael Camara will join the squad as a race driver on a multi-year contract from the 2027 season.[1][2] Camara replaces Esteban Ocon, whose departure was confirmed in September.
The 21-year-old Ferrari Driver Academy member leads the F2 standings with two rounds remaining and won the 2025 F3 title.[3] He was selected after a testing program that included runs in previous-year Haas cars at Portimao in August.
Selection based on test performance
Haas evaluated Camara alongside reigning F2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli and reserve drivers Ryo Hirakawa and Jack Doohan.[4] Team principal Ayao Komatsu stated that Camara was the quickest in the sessions and showed strong adaptability.
Camara is expected to partner Oliver Bearman, another Ferrari junior, though the team has not yet formally confirmed Bearman's 2027 seat.
