The character
:::analysis Interlagos packs a lot into a short, old-school lap. It drops downhill into the flowing Senna S, works through a technical middle sector, then climbs the long, full-throttle gradient back to the line, a layout that rewards a car strong in medium-speed corners and good traction uphill. Its hillside setting and notoriously changeable weather have made it the stage for some of the sport's most dramatic title finales. :::
Strategy and overtaking
The uphill main straight and the run to Turn 1 give two solid passing zones, and the anti-clockwise direction loads drivers' necks the opposite way to most circuits[1]. Frequent rain and a high safety-car probability make Interlagos a strategist's circuit, where committing to slicks or wets at the right moment can win or lose the race. It is also a regular Sprint venue.
