Calendar Gap and Mandatory Closure
The 2026 Formula 1 calendar places the Hungarian Grand Prix on 24-26 July and the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on 21-23 August. [1] This creates an approximately four-week interval. FIA regulations require a 14-day consecutive factory shutdown within that window. [2]
Most teams began the closure on Monday 3 August and end it on Monday 17 August. [2] The rules halt wind-tunnel work, CFD simulation, and car assembly for those 14 days. [3]
Preparation Window
The longer calendar gap still permits limited non-development activities before and after the shutdown. Teams use the full period to finalize logistics and review data collected at the Hungaroring. [2]
