FIA Mandates 14-Day Factory Shutdown for 2026 F1 Summer Break
All F1 teams must observe a 14-day FIA-mandated factory shutdown during the summer break. This halts performance-related work ahead of the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, per Article 21.8 of the sporting regulations.
Shutdown Rule Enforced by FIA Regulations
All competitors must observe a shutdown period of fourteen consecutive days during July or August. This requirement comes directly from Article 21.8 of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations.[3]
The closure prevents any performance-related development. Teams cannot run wind tunnels, conduct CFD simulations, design or manufacture new parts, or hold technical meetings on car development.[1]
Timing Ahead of Dutch Grand Prix
For the 2026 season the shutdown aligns with the gap after the Hungarian Grand Prix and before the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, scheduled for 21-23 August. Teams typically schedule the two-week period in early to mid-August.[2]
