Zandvoort Fan Culture and Track Character
The Circuit Zandvoort sits amid sand dunes along the Dutch coast and features an undulating rollercoaster layout that drivers describe as quick and old-school.[1] Whole grandstands turn orange during the Dutch Grand Prix as the Orange Army fills the venue with flags, music, and a festival vibe that sets the event apart from other rounds.[1]
Historic Races and Recent Returns
Zandvoort first hosted Formula 1 events in 1948 and remained on the calendar through 1985 before a long hiatus. The circuit returned in 2021 after more than three decades away, with Max Verstappen claiming victory in the rain-soaked opener before a massive home crowd.[2] The venue has since become a highlight on the schedule for its passionate atmosphere and beachside location.[2]
