Webber rejects claims of Piastri departure from McLaren
Mark Webber, manager of Oscar Piastri, has rejected rumours that the Australian driver seeks to leave McLaren. Webber stated Piastri remains under contract for the foreseeable future and called talk of agitation to depart nonsense. The comments follow speculation linking Piastri to a potential swap with Max Verstappen. McLaren have expressed long-term commitment to the driver.
Webber rejects exit speculation
Mark Webber has dismissed reports that Oscar Piastri wants to leave McLaren. The former driver and Piastri manager told RACER that talk of the Australian agitating for a departure is nonsense.[1] Piastri holds a contract with the team for the foreseeable future.
Speculation had intensified around a possible direct swap involving Max Verstappen. Webber noted a lot of fiction written about Piastri and other teams. McLaren have repeatedly stated their desire to retain him long term.[2]
