Norris Locks In McLaren Future Through 2030
Lando Norris signed a contract extension with McLaren that runs until the end of 2030, plus a multi-year option beyond that date. The deal was announced on 29 August 2026 at the team's Woking factory during its annual open day, days before the Monza round.
Contract Extension Details
Lando Norris has agreed a new long-term contract with McLaren that keeps the 2025 world champion at the team until at least the end of the 2030 season.[1] The agreement includes a multi-year option for further extension beyond that date.
The deal was announced on 29 August 2026 at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking during the team's annual family and friends open day.[2] Norris has been with McLaren since joining its junior programme in 2017 and made his Formula 1 debut for the team in 2019.
Timing Around Monza
The announcement came six days after Norris's victory at the Dutch Grand Prix and just days ahead of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.[1] Norris stated in the team release that he is excited to return to the car in Monza.
McLaren also confirmed that Norris will receive his championship-winning MCL39 chassis from the 2025 season as part of the agreement.[3] The extension provides continuity following similar long-term commitments from teammate Oscar Piastri and team leadership.
