Lewis Hamilton posted on Instagram about restoring a Ferrari F40 found after more than 30 years in a garage. The seven-time champion sold his car collection in 2025 but kept the F40 as his dream car. Ferrari engineers completed weeks of work at Maranello before the Monza weekend. Hamilton called the car a work of art.
Hamilton Posts on F40 Project
Lewis Hamilton shared photos and details of his Ferrari F40 restoration on Instagram ahead of the Monza weekend. The car had sat in a garage for more than 30 years before he acquired it.[1]
Hamilton sold his entire car collection in 2025. He had stated at the time that an F40 would be the one exception he would consider.[1]
Restoration at Maranello
Ferrari engineers and mechanics at the Maranello factory spent weeks on the project. The work included an engine-out recommissioning. Hamilton described the F40 as the car of his dreams since childhood and a work of art.[1]
He noted that he ensured the car was with him from his first day at Maranello after joining Ferrari. Hamilton thanked those involved and said more details would follow.[1]
