A Madrid residents' platform is gathering noise data from the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix at Madring to support ongoing legal challenges against the circuit's urban licences and environmental approvals. Measurements during pre-race tests exceeded residential limits by wide margins, prompting preparations for further court action after the event.
Noise measurements exceed limits
Residents grouped under the Stop F1 Madrid platform recorded average noise levels of 102.7 decibels during Formula 3 testing at the Madring circuit, with peaks reaching 109.1 decibels.[1] Residential limits stand at 55 decibels. The group installed calibrated equipment near homes in Hortaleza to document the impact ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.
Ongoing legal actions
The platform maintains two active judicial resources against the urban plan modification and the works licence granted for the circuit.[2] A prior request for precautionary suspension of grandstand and walkway construction was rejected by a Madrid court, which cited disruption to the public interest.
