McLaren parks rotating rear wing for Madring debut

Answer
Confirmed

McLaren will not run its H-wing rotating rear wing concept at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. The team instead plans the low-drag specification introduced at Zandvoort for the high-downforce Madring layout, with the H-wing retained only on low-drag packages and slated for return at Baku.

McLaren adapts rear wing choice for Madring

McLaren will not deploy its H-wing rotating rear wing at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.[1]

The team instead plans to run the low-drag rear wing specification first seen at Zandvoort. That package features sculpted endplates and will suit the high-downforce demands of the new Madring circuit.[1]

The H-wing, McLaren's interpretation of the /glossary/rotating-rear-wing concept, debuted in competition at Monza. It performed as intended on low-drag setups. The mechanism will stay on low-drag wings only for now rather than being added retroactively to higher-downforce configurations.[1]
