Incidents and red flags

The session was halted to recover Arvid Lindblad's damaged Racing Bulls car, and no one was able to better Antonelli's lap in the closing minutes. ^[2] Lindblad caused the only red flag of the day across the two F1 sessions by crashing at the fast Turn 13 left-hander, leading to a 12-minute delay. ^[3]

Other notable developments

McLaren's Lando Norris finished bottom of the timesheet due to a gearbox issue early on, necessitating a change; despite the team's best efforts to get the F1 champion back on track, he finished the session without a time to his name. ^[3]
