F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali described the new Madring circuit as very demanding with no margin for error ahead of its debut as the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix venue.[1]
He noted the close proximity of walls and the pressure drivers will face on an unfamiliar layout. "If you commit an error, the bill will be expensive, without a doubt, if you go off track," Domenicali said.[2]
Drivers must find the right balance between pushing hard and staying precise. "When you go to a track with walls so close, the driver has to go to the limit," he added, calling the challenge exciting for what promises to be a high-stakes qualifying and race.[3]
Track demands shape weekend outlook
With the Spanish GP split between Barcelona in June and Madrid in September, the Madring layout introduces a fresh test for the field. Drivers who completed filming days or simulator work have flagged the Monumental section as particularly imposing.
