Mini takes control in Hungary sprint

Gabriele Mini secured his second FIA Formula 2 victory of the 2026 season with a controlled performance in the Hungaroring sprint race.[1] The Alpine Academy driver for MP Motorsport pounced on lap 17 to pass Sebastian Montoya for the lead.

Mini then extended his advantage and added the bonus point for fastest lap.[2] He finished ahead of Dino Beganovic in second and Laurens van Hoepen in third.

Key incidents reshape standings

Montoya and championship leader Nikola Tsolov collided at turn 1 after Tsolov attempted a lunge on the Colombian driver.[3] Both retired from the race.
