Track conditions were warm, with surface temperatures reaching 50°C.^[1] The action took a while to get going, with Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc the first front runners to set times with just over fifteen minutes gone. ^[1]

Sergio Perez stopped his Cadillac at turn 2, and his car was smoking. The session was stopped. ^[3] This early red flag limited the opening minutes of running, but the field resumed and ramped up the pace in the final stint.

The Hungaroring's tight, technical nature means single-lap qualifying performance often separates closely-matched machinery by mere hundredths. This top three of Norris, Hamilton, and Antonelli will likely fight hard for pole, but Leclerc, Piastri, and Russell remain very much in contention if they can identify where lap time has slipped away in the middle sectors.
