Hamilton needs 'difficult conversation' at Ferrari

Answer
Confirmed

Lewis Hamilton requires a frank discussion with Ferrari after overriding a strategy call at the Singapore Grand Prix, with former strategist Bernie Collins stating the seven-time champion no longer fully trusts the team's pit wall decisions.

Strategy dispute at Singapore

Lewis Hamilton finished sixth at the Singapore Grand Prix after choosing not to pit under a Virtual Safety Car on lap 39, overriding a call from the Ferrari pit wall. The decision left him on worn tyres and cost potential podium positions. Hamilton later apologised to the team over the radio and on social media, describing it as his call and a painful lesson. Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed the instruction had been issued.[1]

Trust concerns raised

Former Aston Martin head of strategy Bernie Collins highlighted the incident as evidence of broader issues. Collins noted Hamilton had questioned decisions in real time and argued the seven-time champion is not fully trusting Ferrari's strategy team. She called for a direct conversation to address protocols and rebuild alignment between driver and engineers.[2]
