Alpine brings back Mike Elliott as Chief Technical Officer
Alpine has appointed former Mercedes technical chief Mike Elliott as Chief Technical Officer. He will lead and oversee technical and engineering functions at the Enstone factory, returning to the team where he previously worked as principal aerodynamicist from 2008 to 2012.
Alpine strengthens technical leadership ahead of Baku
Alpine has appointed Mike Elliott as Chief Technical Officer.[1] The 52-year-old Briton will lead and oversee the technical and engineering functions at the team's Enstone factory.[2] Elliott starts next week, ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku on 24-26 September.[3]
Elliott previously served as principal aerodynamicist at Enstone from 2008 to 2012 during the Renault and Lotus eras.[1] He later joined Mercedes, where he contributed to eight constructors' and eight drivers' championships across roles including head of aerodynamics, technology director, technical director and chief technical officer.[2]
Alpine stated that Elliott's arrival strengthens the team's technical capabilities as it seeks to build on improved on-track performances and close the gap to the top four teams.[1] Executive technical director David Sanchez continues in his role under the new structure.[3]
Background on the appointment
Elliott left Mercedes in October 2023 after more than a decade with the team.[2] His return to F1 marks the end of a three-year break from the sport.[1]
