What does DSQ mean in F1?
Answer
DSQ stands for 'disqualified', sometimes written DQ. It means a driver's result has been struck from a session for breaking the rules, for example a technical breach found in scrutineering (an underweight car or illegal wing) or a serious sporting infringement. A disqualified driver scores no points for that session.
What DSQ means
DSQ, or DQ, means disqualified: the stewards have removed a driver's result for a rules breach.[1] The cause is often technical, such as a car found underweight or with a part outside the regulations during post-session checks, but it can also follow a serious sporting infringement; either way the driver loses the result and any points it carried.[2] For the broader penalty system, see F1 penalties explained.
